However, there is a lack of a general deﬁnition of the diﬃculty in games, methodology and tools to measure it. We have reported a ﬁrst experiment using a synthetic player. This experiment shows that with a basic AI driven player, we can extract objective diﬃculty measures out of a simple game. But as we stated before, the player ability to overcome a challenge depends on his experience of the game. Thus, we propose a deﬁnition of diﬃculty taking into account the past experience of the player. This deﬁnition relies on the main properties presented in this paper.
