We are happy to convey you this number of papers for the 9th foreign convention on Conceptual buildings (ICCS), representing endured excellence in conceptual constructions learn. we now have followed the name \Broadening the Base," acknowledging the significance of contributions from students in lots of study components. The rst ICCS conferences concentrated totally on Sowa’s conceptual graphs; lately, even though, the ICCS convention sequence has deliberately widened its scope to stimulate learn throughout area obstacles. we are hoping that this stimulation is additional stronger through ICCS 2001 carrying on with the lengthy culture of energetic meetings approximately Conceptual constructions. we want to convey our appreciation to all of the authors of submitted papers, to the final chair, to the individuals of the editorial board and this system committee, and to the extra reviewers for making ICCS 2001 a useful contribution to the data processing study eld. we might additionally wish to recognize the management of man Mineau and Bernhard Ganter in offering a high-quality framework for an open and e ective reviewing strategy. Very certain thank you visit the neighborhood organizers for making the convention attainable and, in addition, an stress-free and encouraging occasion. we're thankful to the college of Alabama in Huntsville, and the college of Karlsruhe for his or her beneficiant support.

UN reports express that high-income, constructed countries deal with approximately 70 percentage in their wastewater. although, in low-income constructing international locations, in basic terms eight percentage of wastewater undergoes any type of therapy. insufficient water remedy has severe results for either human wellbeing and fitness and the surroundings. The articles during this compendium offer a consultant move pattern of either constructing and built international locations' water remedy amenities.

For those words that have word graphs very close to those for these pure logic words we take the stand that although frames are used, the essential meaning is not expressed by the frame. One example should suffice here. The word “both” is used in expressions like “both a and b are numbers”, meaning “a is a number and b is a number”. “Number (a)∧ Number (b)” may be the formulation in predicate logic. The essential meaning of “both” is that the predicate holding for a and b is the same, the “and”-connective has the, different, meaning of combining two propositions that may have no further commonness at all.
40 4 T. Amghar, T. Charnois, and D. Battistelli Related Works Numerous works tackling the problem of time within the CG framework come from domains related to Knowledge Representation or Natural Language Processing. Depending on the nature of the involved domain, they focus either on some general aspect of representing and managing temporal data, or on more idiosyncratic representations of linguistic time in the case of textual data. Esch’s and Nagle’s approach belong to the first category and use an ontology where time entities are ”interval shaped”.
We propose here a system realizing the transformation of initial semantico-cognitive representations of the texts of the corpus into their conceptual graph representations. Section 2 is devoted to the linguistic background of our work. Two different structures are associated with a text: the first structure is used to model the semantico-cognitive representation of the text and the second one describes the temporal organization of the text through a temporal diagram. Section 3 presents the main principles governing the construction of those structures within Conceptual Graphs (CG) formalism.
