36 The summer uniform worn by the Greek Army was a khaki drill version of the M1908 (see Plate A3); the lightweight khaki cotton often faded in the sun to a very pale shade. In the heat of the Asia Minor plains troops not surprisingly wore as little as possible; while there is no photographic evidence that shorts were ever worn, in the field most Greek soldiers would wear their undershirt along with either the winter wool trousers or the summer version if available.
