Piper has really blossomed this past week. She rolled from her back to her stomach, began turning around in circles and finally let me bathe her without a screaming tirade. Every bit of progress makes her a happier baby. I can tell Piper is very focused on long-term goals. Her goal is to be able to sit independently. Until then, she will not be satisfied in a car seat, in a bathtub, or in any reclined position. I’m reading about the RIE philosophy of raising a baby with respect and with natural movements — without walkers and swings and any sort of artificial aids. I like that Magda Gerber admits in the first chapter that you should only take away what works for you because every baby/person IS different.
Anyhow, Piper is happier with every day of freedom from stagnation. It’s obvious that her freedom makes her happy. Here are some pics of her just being her happy free self:
